We’re happy to see the expansion of the rehabilitated basic school in Brufut starting with the foundation work. It was amazing that MRC-Holland Foundation* offered their support on the day we celebrated the finalisation of the rehabilitation works we did in 2018, seeing it really happen is even more gratifying.
Steps towards Better Education
During the kick-off ceremony on the 29th September 2019, CASA Gambia signed a contract worth GMD 4,153,065 with A &A Construction for the construction of a 10-classroom 2-story building at Brufut Lower Basic School to be realised in six months.
CASA Gambia also contracted Mr. Mustapha Jallow as supervisor to the building project at the time of GMD 60,000. Mustapha Jallow shall serve as a supervisor for CASA Gambia in monitoring and evaluating A&A Construction at Brufut Lower Basic School in its task to construct a ten classroom Storey building in a period of six months.
Scope of the Expansion project
The project is aimed at improving the capacity of Brufut Lower Basic School by building a classroom block for the growing number of students in this densely populated community and to improve the quality of basic education.
To enable the school to achieve this stated goal, MRC Holland in cooperation with CASA Gambia and CASA Gambia The Netherlands, a non-governmental organization; a non-political, non-religious and a non-profit making charitable association, intends to construct ten classrooms for the school, to address the current problem the school is facing in running afternoon shift, with fewer school hours then the morning shift, due to inadequacy of classrooms.
