Halimatou holds a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies and post graduate Diploma in Gender and Development. Halimatou is a seasoned young and dynamic gender and women empowerment advocate.
She worked with the government of The Gambia for over five years with both the women’s bureau and the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Welfare.
During this period, she has touched-based with women of all scores of life especially the grassroots.
She is a community volunteer, who believes in uplifting the lives and livelihoods of young people especially girls.
She has been engaged in series of capacity building both as a volunteer and at professional workspace, where she led and facilitated trainings.
Halimatou has a keen interest in ending sexual and gender-based violence and violence against women and girls.
She is also an Alumni of the Young African Leadership Initiative – (YALI Fellowship – Accra).
Currently, I work with the largescale ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) Project as the Gender and Advocacy Officer where I work directly with the grassroots to mainstream gender in climate change adaptation strategies.
