Paving the way to self-fulfillment
Beekdaelen, June 25, 2021
Dear Board/Management,
The Casa-Gambia foundation aims to raise the Gambia (North-West Africa) to a higher social level. We want to achieve this by improving the quality of and access to :
the O ease the G ezondheidszorg A gricultuu r S port
The Gambia is one of the 10 poorest countries in the world and they were also hit by the corona virus and a lock down, a double noose for this country. This means that the people there are really hungry. They didn’t have much before and now they have nothing at all. There is no work, no income, so no food. The Gambia has no social provisions, no health insurance and also has a very poor health care . Many people with health problems cannot go to the doctor or hospital, they cannot pay for it, which means that people die unnecessarily.
Fortunately, few people have been infected so far. The government has taken timely measures.
In Brufut/Gambia a small part of the local population sells their own grown fruit and vegetables to support themselves. The sale takes place in a market hall that is so bad and unsanitary that it could collapse at any moment.
Despite the danger of collapse, the sellers do not stay away because they then have no income.
Casa-Gambia, in collaboration with the Wilde Ganzen foundation, has decided to help the poorest of the families in Brufut with a one-time family food package during this Corona period. In addition, Casa-Gambia has conceived a plan to help the population with a ‘post corona impulse’ so that the local economy can get going again under healthy conditions.
This plan results in the construction of a new market hall, so that the local population can sell their fruit and vegetables in a safe and hygienic way. They get a spot on the ground floor and the first e floor are shops including two butchers, two bakers, fishmongers and others 1
The new market hall is equipped with toilets and running water.
Preparations for this have already been made, a project plan has been written including the construction drawings. (See attached project plan) This involves an amount of € 134 . 466 .
The total amount already promised is € 119,742.67. We still need an amount of € 14,723.33 before we can start construction. We also want to offer salespeople training in accounting, taxes, business operations, marketing & sales, food safety, etc
For this we still need an additional amount of € 10.000, – In total therefore still needed € 24723.33 The new market hall
We work together with the Wilde Ganzen Foundation and the Elisabeth Strouven Fund. A delegation of Wild Geese Last November, the old market hall and also visited our former project of rehabilitation of the Brufut Lower Basic School, (about 2,000 students) that for such Wild Geese and Elisabeth Strouven Fund have been a major sponsor. During the handover of the school in January 2019, Casa-Gambia received great interest from TV, radio, national and regional newspapers. See our website www.casa-gambia.org
The delegation was very impressed by the performance of Casa-Gambia for what Wilde Ganzen and others have donated. They have great confidence in our foundation and we are of course very proud of that.
3 months after the realization of a project, which is supported by Wilde Ganzen (WG), the Elisabeth Strouven Fund (ESF) and other donors, we report financially to Wilde Ganzen in accordance with our project application at Wilde Ganzen. WG and ESF work together and are major sponsors for our projects.
All employees of the foundation are volunteers and we ensure that the last cent is spent on this project in The Gambia, as we do with all our project funds.
We would like to ask you to help us realize this market hall for the local population, so that they can sell their products in a safe and hygienic way in order to be able to provide for themselves.
We would like to discuss this with you.
We are an ANBI foundation, you can deduct your donation from the tax.
